A Good Day

Yesterday was quite the day. We officially got our new president. He’s black. He’s young. Energetic, handsome and smart. At least it appears so.

Most people seem pretty happy and are excited about the new direction our country will hopefully turn.

I watched every minute of the inauguration and most of the pre-inauguration. Last night I watched a bit more of the balls.

I partly sat on my bum all day and watched the day's festivities because I have a sick toddler who I needed to sit with; all day and pretty much all evening.

But another first happened yesterday that I’m proud to report.

My 2.25 year old daughter who as previously reported wouldn’t take ‘medicine’ if presented as a chocolate truffle, was finally able to be reasoned with.

Before yesterday, when trying to get Julia to take the f’ing medicine, "Don’t you get it that you’ll feel better if you take it" teaspoon of Tylenol, I either had to choke it down her (which only resulted in every drop being immediately expelled along with all morsels of remaining stomach content) or give up.

Usually resulting in the latter.

After getting up yesteday morning, baking hot, she whimpered/cried while walking into the kitchen. I asked her if she wanted to take her medicine as it would make her feel better (oh, and I threw in the bad mommy bit about it tastes like candy) and she said “okay mommy”.

I handed her the teaspoon full and she took it. All of it. I tried to act nonchalant but admittedly, there was a loud, raucous celebration going on in my head.

Though I’d been cooped up in the house on a beautiful, sunny, 70 degree day, I can say, it was a good day.

And I hope she slept through the night and woke up on top of the world today!

2.25!!!! How did she get that old in such a short time. Last time I saw you, you were still pregnant. Has it been that long? I'm so old....Anna

Wow, two momentus events on the same day, our new Prez and Julia voluntarily taking her meds. Can life get any better???

Uh...sadly, she still has a fever so I can't take her to school. So, I've been getting very familiar with the inside of my house.....

Anna - You're not old. O.k. you're older than me, but not old!! : )

I had a blog like this once, but I got so much spam I had to close it. You appear to have a better spam filter! Kudos!
