I love writing reviews. Regarding reality shows, kid’s toys, products, books, whatever.
Typically no one asks me my opinion so I write reviews for, pretty much me I guess.
However, I was recently asked by Team Mom to sample three products by Baby Jamz.
As I have Baby Jamz age appropriate kids, I thought it was a great idea.
Baby Jamz is an entire line of children’s products that were created by Beyonce Knowles’ father and sister Solange.
But. The three products included the Baby Jamz Nursery Rhymes Volume I CD, the Boppin’ Tunes Boom Box and the Baby Jamz Music Crew.
That is the order in which my kids and I tolerated them. The CD is fun though the lyrics are very different to well-known songs that may or may not confuse young children.
As this is "Volume I" I'm going to assume there will be a "Volume II" up soon.
The Boppin’ Tunes Boom Box is well…o.k. though it appears a bit more thought may have needed to go into this product.
Both my kids liked playing with it. Briefly. My 17 month old likes to carry it around as it does have a nice chunky handle.
When a child inserts each of the three blocks into the slots, a portion of a song plays. Again, BUT. The blocks DO NOT stay in the toy. Maybe a little more depth into the slot might have been clever eh?
Show me a parent who enjoys 'finding' the 'lost' pieces of stupid toys. I dare you.
Now comes the real prize.
The Baby Jamz Music Crew. This has got to be a joke. I’m imagining Beyonce’s fam sitting back wondering if anyone will take this toy seriously.
It COULD have been a good product but it isn’t. Doesn’t Solange have kids? Shouldn’t she know better?
The ‘Crew’ consists of two characters that are intended to sit on top of the mini boom box. They don’t stay as the grooves aren’t even close to being deep enough to hold them.
Again, add the "Crew" to your list of f8cKing pieces your kids are whining about losing.
Also, the toy, though priced well at Wal-Mart for $4.88 requires three Button Cell batteries.
I don’t know any sane parent who wants to add another battery type to their children’s toy/device/pretty much anything-they-make-for-kid’s-these-days, I-should-have-bought-stock-in-Duracell-by-now battery collection.
The Baby Jamz products are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.
Borrow some other kid’s Baby Jamz products before deciding to buy.
In other words, buyer beware.
