Starbucks Drive-Thru's. Where are ya'll?

First off - yeah, I said "ya'll" and I'm totally kidding. I really don't say that.

Yet.

And, I give – who hid the drive thru coffee joints in this place?

In Seattle, you certainly don’t have to drive far to scream into your neighborhood (any neighborhood that is. In fact pretty much any street) Starbucks drive thru and order your 5-8+ word coffee drink.

Plus, it's common knowledge there that you can save a precious second and a bit of voice by not screaming STAT post-order as by the time you get to the window (that’s right, they don’t waste time with the fast-food two window program), waving your $500+ balance Starbucks card, your drink is ready and being handed to you by an enthusiastic, jittery, happy, over-caffeinated (ha – define ‘over-caffeinated’ to Seattle folks) Senior Coffee Specialist employee.

They don’t mess around with people’s immediate coffee needs. Nice.

I miss this.

So far, I have found absolutely no (0) drink drive thrus. That’s right. You heard me.

Oh, wait. I have actually. I have found several LIQUOR drive thru’s (o.k. not a bad thing) but I’m in pretty severe pain over not getting my morning drink (that utilizes a full sentence to explain) without schlepping at least one child into the damn store for the 1-2 minute transaction.

It’s not even just kneeing your kid’s back nicely directing him/her straight into the store when they realize it’s a coffee joint and does not serve French fries, but rather that one has to blast the A/C in the car afterward for 10+ minutes prior to kid insertion, or said kid(s) will scream bloody murder due to scalding by the metal car seat latches. Pu**ies.

For the LOG. (‘love of god’ for those who don’t do acronyms) will someone please contact Howard Schultz and tell him of the outrage that’s happening here in Austin?

Thanks.

Well, well, well!!!! Finally, somthing I can throw back in your face when I want to make you feel bad about leaving Seattle, (and more important, your frends.) I know I don't have to tell you that you can't throw a rock here in my neighborhood without hitting a drive thru coffee bar. In fact, the one JUST ACROSS THE STREET also gives out doggie treats which makes Ace very happy when Mom gets her latte.

But, here's what I will do for you. I will be meeting with the Starbuck's folks again within the next few months and I will ask them about the drive-thru situation in Austin. Even though I certainly don't have the ability to influence their decision making process, I can find out what the thought process is behind the lack of drive-thru's.

On the Starbucks front, I'm aware of two drive throughs in Austin although there may be more. One is on 2222 right before you hit Mopac (route 1) on Northland Drive. You can google maps the Chez Zee restaurant on Balcones since Starbucks is right around the corner (for some reason this Starbucks isn't on the Google map).

The other one is on 2900 W Anderson Ln. From the 360/2222 intersection, take 360 North until you hit Spicewood Springs. Take a right onto Spicewood Springs, which eventually crosses over Mopac (Rt 1) and then turns into Anderson Ln. The Starbucks will be a couple blocks up (after crossing Mopac) on the left.

Enjoy!

Wow — someone wants to know about me?! I'm flattered. Anyway, doing just fine thanks.

Re. Starbucks; on the positive side, our bank balance is better off to the tune of about $40 a week. So, Mr. Shultz, you can keep your drive-throughs out of Texas, thank you!

Another Starbucks Fan - thank you for understanding my plight and thanks even more for advising me of the drive-thru whereabouts.

I don't care if it does take me 30+ minutes to get to those locations. I'm there.

I have lived in Austin(Steiner Ranch) for almost 2 years now and I only know of one drive thru Starbucks at Mopac and 2222. We just got our own coffee place in the front of our neighborhood, Delicato--it is actually pretty good, but not a drive thru.

Lori, I too live in Steiner Ranch and have visited the lovely Delicato. I really like it and would like it even more if they had a drive-thru (or how about a curb-side service?).
